A woman has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit, naming a former doctor accused of sexual misconduct.
Dr. Wilton Calderon of Old Lyme, Ct. was accused a year ago with unwanted sexual contact with seven female patients. According to Newsline 9, the civil lawsuit filed by Sarah Rusch on November , also names Proassurance Casualty Co. of Birmingham, Ala., and Ministry Medical Group of Milwaukee as defendants.
Calderon is already charged with four counts of felony third-degree sexual assault and six counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor. He’s set to return to court Feb. 17 for a plea hearing.
Prosecutors accuse Calderon of assaults that took place from 2011 to 2014 while Calderon was a doctor at Plover Family Practice, which is owned by Ministry Health Care.
According to the lawsuit, Calderon inappropriately touched Rusch in a patient examining room in January and June 2014 for his “sexual gratification.” That came after his employers were told by other patients in 2009 and 2010 that the doctor had “sexually assaulted the patients without their consent.”
